Nettle Top or Bottom Step

Hand knotted in Nepal at 100 knots per inch. A relative of Stinging Nettle, "Allo” as it is known in Nepal is similar to Hemp in that it is a strong natural fiber used in fabrics, rope and hand made rugs. Entirely untreated and undyed, it has an earthy tone, slightly darker than hemp and not as ochre in hue. Nettle is slightly softer as well, and consequently it is easier on the weavers’ fingers. ALTO Steps, Landings & Runners are also available in this design.
